South Carolina Wins National Championship

South Carolina 2, UCLA 1. In what might have been the finest pitched game in the long and storied history of Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium, the USC Gamecocks won game two of the national championship series, and along with it, a national championship. The two teams went 1-1 most of the night until a RBI single from Whit Merrifield in the bottom of the 11th scored Scott Wingo for the game winner. Jackie Bradley, Jr was awarded the series Most Outstanding Player after hitting .345 for the CWS. For South Carolina, this is its first ever national championship in baseball.

Gamecocks Win Game 1

Game 1 - South Carolina 7, UCLA 2. The South Carolina Gamecocks have won the first game of the national championship series of the College World Series, and are now just one victory away from the school's first ever title. UCLA threw their ace - Gerrit Cole - but USC had no problem with him, scoring seven runs in the game. Mike Roth again came up big for USC on the mound, surrending zero runs while in the game. Fans across the Palmetto State will be glued to their TV sets Tuesday night to see if the Gamecocks can bring home college baseball's ultimate prize.

Omaha Showdown!

South Carolina (2-1) vs. Clemson (2-0) Friday Night, ESPN, 9:00 est - South Carolina pulled out an amazing, dramatic, come from behind, 12-inning win over Oklahoma late Thursday night to stay alive in the College World Series from Omaha. With the 3-2 win, the Gamecocks set up a showdown with Clemson, where both teams are so close to playing for a national chamipionship. For Clemson fans, the first thought is that of 2002, where a nearly identical situation saw the Gamecocks win twice, and keep CU from playing for all the marbles.

College World Series Preview

COLLEGE WORLD SERIES - OMAHA, NEBRASKA - June 19 - 30 - ESPN - The Road to Omaha has come to an end as all eight teams have made the trek and are set to begin play on Saturday from Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska. This is the final year the event will be held in this park, so it will hopefully go down as a classic! The field is diverse with two left coast teams, two heartland teams, and four teams from the Southeast. Here is a glance at what is to come in the eleven days ahead as college baseball will crown its newest national champion!
