The Top Fan's Top 25 - Final Rankings
01.10.12 - Posted By: Brett Haynes - Greenville, SC
Another season has come and gone, and with it the Southeastern Conference claimed its sixth straight national championship....here is my final top 25 for the 2011 season....
1. Alabama (12-1) - my preseason rank: 2 - The #1 team dominated the biggest game of the season to win it all (even though I think they weren't the team worthy of that opportunity).
2. Oklahoma State (12-1) - my preseason rank: 22 - Once more, I feel the BCS let us down. OSU should have been able to challenge LSU. A great season for the Cowboys.
3. LSU (13-1) - my preseason rank: 5 - Should LSU still get #1 votes? I think so....

The Top Fan's Top 25 - Regular Season Final
12.05.11 - Posted By: Brett Haynes - Greenville, SC
LSU remains the top team in the land. The college football season is exactly long enough. Exactly. I ran out of gas somewhere around the end of Saturday night's games, and this short break between now and the bowl games could not have come at a better time. You see folks, as much as I would love to sit here and type about how Fans25 is this big, huge company that has all week open to research and report on college football, I cannot. Several super-rad volunteers help me monitor the site, but I work a pretty solid week each week at my real-world job and at times I just have to put driving home from work and sleep first.....All lame excuses aside, here are how I see the teams falling into place as the regular season of 2011 has come to a close...
Who Gets LSU?
12.04.11 - Posted By: Brett Haynes - Greenville, SC
#1 LSU 42, #14 Georgia,10. Now that the Tigers of LSU have whipped UGA to win the SEC Championship, the talk is about who will be fortunate enough to get a piece of them in New Orleans for the national championship. Oklahoma State and Alabama are in a dead-heat to get that coveted #2 ranking in the BCS standings, with both schools having one-loss. LSU cruised through the season with no losses, and will be the favorite in the title game, regardless of whether they face the Tide or the Cowboys. Sunday will be a day of nail-biting for fans in Tuscaloosa and Stillwater.
Tigers Win ACC Championship
12.04.11 - Posted By: Brett Haynes - Greenville, SC
#20 Clemson 38, #5 Virginia Tech 10. In a roller-coaster of a season, the Tigers of Clemson are back on a roll. After playing dismal football the last four weeks, Clemson showed up in major fashion at Bank of America Stadium Saturday night, whipping the Hokies for the ACC crown. A trip to the Orange Bowl now awaits Clemson - their first appearance in that event in exactly 30 years. This championship is the Tigers' first ACC title in exactly 20 years.
Championship Weekend Predictions
12.01.11 - Posted By: Brett Haynes - Greenville, SC
For the fifth consecutive season, I have picked well, but not well enough. Yes, I have all but eliminated myself from winning the Fans25 Pick'em Contest this year as I am 4% off of the lead with just one weekend to go. My 73% would have won the thing in 2007 and 2008 (the winners were at 74% the following two years), but not in 2011 - where our winner will be at at least 77% - maybe even better. Seven players (those at 76% or better) still have a chance as we head into the final ten games...It has been a great regular season here on Fans25 and here are my picks for week 14's games...
FRIDAY
UCLA (6-6, 5-4) at
#9 Oregon (10-2, 8-1) - PAC-12 Championship Game, Eugene, OR - 8:00 - FOX - The reason that UCLA is in this game at all is because USC is on probation and isn't allowed to play in it. The Trojans just beat UCLA 50-0 and have the best record in the PAC-12 South. But in reality, the Bruins are making the trip up to Eugune to face Oregon. With college football being so much about emotion, you have to think UCLA will play with a spark as a BCS game is on the line. You would guess they would also want to win it for Rick Neuheisel, who has just been fired as coach but will be on the sidelines one last time Friday night....Oregon will win this game. Big. The Ducks are also drooling to go back to the BCS, and a win here would do it. Home crowd. Major offense. I'm going with the Ducks. Oregon, 45-20.
