I want to hear your honest opinions about the NFL Pro Bowl.

I will start it off by saying that I enjoy watching the little quarterback and kicker competitions, and all the side stuff that comes along with it.  About the game itself, I'll be honest.  I might watch the 1st quarter.  After that, I move on  to something else.

It is very, very tough to watch a football game that is actually half of a football game.  The rules are so watered down, and mostly, the players aren't really out there playing to the caliber of what a Pro Bowler should be playing.

Honestly, I can't blame them.  Pro Bowl rules are made to minimize the risk of unnecessary injury.  Most of the players, out of respect, even go further to make sure themselves that they don't cause unnecessary injury to another player.  You may be different, and if you are, I am me and you are you.  Nothing we can do about that.  But if I was a player in this game, I would not make it a point to clean somebody's clock for the sake that they may fumble.  If I seriously injure this man in the most meaningless game in all of football, I would be an a**.

In return, all of this makes for some very unwatchable television.  I know that this site has it's share of biased football fans, but when you put it all aside, even the most biased football fan has to admit...  The Pro-Bowl is the worst All-Star game of any sport.

What is your opinion on the Pro Bowl?

Well...it's not as big as NBA All-Star Weekend with the Slam Dunk and 3-point contests, Rookie game, etc., etc...and it doesn't mean anything like MLBs All-Star Game (ie, World Series homefield advantage - we'll save that for another thread!)...so to me, it's just an exhibition.  I always thought it was kind of a reward for the players to get to go to Hawaii at the end of the season, even for those who played on losing teams but played really hard during the season.

Not sure this new system will work (ie, Pro Bowl next week, Super Bowl after) because we've left out Brees, Manning, Bush, Wayne, etc., etc.  I believe there are over 30 drop-outs this year from NFL players and "replacements" have had to be found.

However, I think it's still somewhat important to some player's contracts b/c some get bonuses for making the ProBowl, right?

Overall, I'm like you, Common...I might watch a couple quarters or watch for my favorite players, but it's just an exhibition.  They don't really go at it that hard.

yea i agree with the fact that its stupid and everytime anybody thinks of the pro bowl they think of that big hit by sean taylor. they dont hit in the pro bowl its hard for these guys to play in a game like this because one hit or one wrong step could a season or an entire career thats a lot different than baseball or basketball.

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO COLTS!!!!!!!!

I have to agree with all of you. I just don't think it can ever work in the NFL. Such a hard hitting sport that they are afraid to hurt anyone. Plus to have it one week before the super bowl and plus to have it at the home city of the Super Bowl instead of having the game in Hawaii. It's tough to say. But i think NFL try to be different and this might become quite and EPIC FAIL.  IF i was the NFL you will have to take it back to hawaii and plus have the game after the super bowl. Like it has always been.

Man, the jerseys are not even that hot this year.  Normally we can count on the Pro Bowl to provide us with some super hot jerseys.  I just think these look kinda off.  Thats just an opinion though.  You?

Playing in the Pro Bowl means you are an outstanding NFL player and it's a great thing to add your resume (accent marks above e where lol), but the game itself is a bore.

Last weekend I went to visit one my friends in central california... and I chose to go that weekend BECAUSE it was the Pro Bowl and I knew I wasn't going to miss the important games i.e. playoffs and Super Bowl.

The Pro Bowl is Great if your a casual fan who wants a trip to Hawaii or Miami now.  Or if you just love offense and no defense then its fun.  I love great defenses though so I dont usually watch the pro bowl.

i have to agree with bravesfan95 and cody. this game cannot work in the NFL because of the chance that players get hurt - just the nature of it.

GOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOOOOOOOCKS!!!!
